True, fiber lasers aren’t exactly new. After all, they’ve been used for decades in industrial applications. But fiber lasers have recently gained ground in the personalization industry, with smaller shops even reaping benefits from investing in such equipment. That’s in part because fiber lasers offer more versatility with metal applications than CO2 lasers and are faster and easier to use than mechanical engravers. The global fiber laser marking machine market is projected to have a 10.9% compound annual growth rate from 2017 to 2024, according to research that Research Nester compiled and released last year.

Where’s the beef? It’s in this very beefy project that, among other things, will detail a process for creating table tents with call numbers on them like those used by many fast-food locations.

Large franchise operations order these by the millions at a super cheap price, but smaller, local establishments often require quantities that can be profitable for laser owners, UV printers, sublimators, and other smaller-run personalization professionals.

Thinking of adding a UV printer to your lineup, but unsure of what to expect?

We asked four Awards and Personalization Association member retailers to tell us all about their first experiences with UV printers, from researching the purchase and learning how to operate it to how they’re marketing their new capabilities.

When thinking about cities like Las Vegas, New York, and Tokyo, images of stunning, eye-catching signage often spring to mind. More and more we are seeing brightly lit displays being used to create unforgettable messages for advertising as well as simpleambient appeal for restaurants, galleries, and even modern home décor.
Get into the profitable ADA-compliant signage market while saving time and money and gaining a competitive advantage. How? Use a UV-LED printer.
UV printing—and more specifically UV-LED inkjet printing—has been around for many years. Still, it has only been in the past 2 to 3 years that the industry has seen several companies manufacture a small-format (SF), entry-level flatbed printer that would lend itself to broad-based acceptance in the engraving and awards market. The SF table sizes accept products up to a 12 in. by 24 in. and up to 6 in. in height, and these printers are beginning to become popular profit centers.
For ARA retailers and suppliers, the intricacies of the Americans with Disabilities Act can make ADA signage a cash cow or a big headache. You can ensure it becomes a profit center for your company by doing plenty of research in advance to be certain you have the knowledge and capabilities required—or having a supplier who can do all that heavy lifting for you. Recognition Review can give you the basics to make a decision about whether this market is right for you.
